Chandrababu did historical blunder by constructing diaphragm wall prior to cofferdam: Ambati

Amaravati, June 1: Water Resources Minister Ambati Rambabu on Wednesday invited Leader of the Opposition N. Chandrababu Naidu and former TDP minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao for debate on mistakes committed in construction of Polavaram Project. He alleged that the previous TDP government did a historical blunder by constructing diaphragm wall without completing cofferdam.

“Experts are brainstorming as to whether repairs are enough for damaged diaphragm wall or new one should be constructed,” he added. The minister made it clear that he cannot say when the project will complete. “Any largescale project will complete in phases,” he mentioned and stated that the YSRCP government is trying its best to complete first phase of Polavaram Project at the earliest.

Ambati said that the TDP leaders doesn’t have a right to ask regarding deadline for completion of Polavaram. Earlier, he released water to Godavari delta from the Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage in Dowleswaram. The minister said water is released on June 1 as announced.
