Security tightened as Bandi Sanjay visiting IIIT Basara today
Nirmal, June 17: The police tightened security in and around International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) at Basara as Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay is visiting the temple town on Friday to extend solidarity with students, who are staging a protest for the last three days to exert pressure on the Telangana government for fulfilling their demands.
Students have placed 18 demands before the state government including appointment of a regular Vice-Chancellor (V-C) and filling teaching posts which are lying vacant. After students started stir, the government appointed a director to the premiere technical institute. Other demands are providing laptops and internet service to students, and supplying beds and uniforms.
However, the students made it clear that they will not call off protest until all the demands were met. 250 police personnel under the supervision of Additional SP were posted on all roads leading to IIIT. Barricades were set up to stop the BJP leaders and workers from proceeding towards Basara.
