Revanth meets Agnipath protesters in Chanchalguda jail, objects to Sec 307 in FIRs
Hyderabad, June 23: TPCC president Revanth Reddy met the Secunderabad violence accused lodged in Chanchalguda Jail here on Friday. The Railway police arrested Army job aspirants on the charges of torching railway bogies and damaging shops, lifts, furniture, fans and CCTV cameras on various platforms at Secunderabad railway station.
Speaking to the media, Revanth came down heavily on Railway police for registering FIRs against students with 16 non-bailable sections including 307. He said that students came to the railway station to stage protest opposing the Agnipath Scheme.
The Congress leader demanded that the railway cops should withdraw non-bailable sections in FIRs and arrange a special court so that judgement is delivered within 40 days.
The Telangana Congress chief stated that party will appoint lawyers to represent students in courts. He also slammed Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao as two FIRs registered at Gopalapuram police station against students. He gave a call to the Congress cadre to organise deekshas in all headquarters of Assembly constituencies on June 27.
