Typhoid cases on rise in Telangana due to people eating roadside panipuri: DPH
Hyderabad, July 12: Director of Public Health G. Srinivasa Rao on Tuesday said that Telangana state is reporting rise in typhoid cases as people are falling sick after eating panipuri sold by vendors on the roads without following hygiene.
Talking to reporters, the DPH made an appeal to people to avoid eating food sold on streets during the rainy season. In July month alone, 2,752 typhoid cases were registered in the state. He asked panipuri vendors to use boiled water for making recipe. “Even the vendors have to ensure the selling points on roads are clean without giving scope for flies and mosquitoes,” he stated.
In a satirical tone, Rao said that one has to shell out Rs 10,000 by eating panipuri with Rs 10. He warned private hospitals not to flee patients by recommending unnecessary lab tests. With onset of monsoon, people fall sick to seasonal diseases like typhoid, cholera, and malaria.
