Marker line on ballot: Mulugu MLA Seethakka’s vote becomes invalid in prez election

Hyderabad, July 22: Congress MLA from Mulugu Seethakka’s vote became invalid in presidential election 2022 due to marker line on ballot paper. Voting for presidential poll was held on July 18 here for MLAs and MPs of Telangana state.

However, a marker pen in one of the hands of Seethakka erroneously drew a line in open space on ballot paper while she was casting vote in the Legislative Assembly. She immediately brought to the notice of a presiding official and requested him to give one more ballot paper. But he denied saying that rules will not allow to give one more ballot paper.

The MLA informed the reporters as to what happened inside the voting hall. A section of media wrongly reported regarding her vote. She released a video on social media clarifying that she voted according to her conscience. As result of presidential election declared on Thursday, the Election Commission of India announced that vote of Seethakka became invalid.
