NTR varsity renaming row: TDP members disrupt Assembly proceedings
Amaravati, September 21: As soon as Speaker Thammineni Seetharam entered the Legislative Assembly and seated in his chair on Wednesday, the Telugu Desam legislators began sloganeering opposing renaming of Dr NTR University of Health Sciences (NTRUHS) after former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy.
The TDP members continued raising slogans despite the Speaker urged them to keep quiet and cooperate for smooth functioning of the House. They stormed into the Speaker’s podium and demanded that the AP government should withdraw proposal of renaming health varsity.
Seetharam informed the TDP MLAs to express their opinions when the Bill is tabled in the Assembly. Amidst ruckus, the Speaker took up Question Hour session.
At this juncture, Minister for Water Resources Ambati Rambabu rose and said that only TDP member Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary has every right to speak about TDP founder and ex-CM N T Rama Rao (NTR) as all other MLAs including N. Chandrababu Naidu had backstabbed him.
