5G mania: PM Modi to launch 5G services at India Mobile Congress in Delhi on Oct 1
Hyderabad: Good news for those who are waiting for 5G services. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally launch 5G services at the India Mobile Congress in Delhi on October 1. Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel are ready to launch these services while Vodafone Idea (Vi) may take some time to launch the services.
These services will be made available in metro cities initially. Meanwhile, some questions are bothering the users about how to receive them. Does their phone support 5G services? Will the current SIM card work? Or should get a new one? Questions like these arise in the minds of consumers. Let's find out how 5G services function.
You can check whether the phone supports 5G services by checking the network settings of the phone or the preferred network of the SIM card. If the preferred network indicates 5G, then the phone supports 5G. If you don't see 5G in mobile network settings, it means it doesn't support 5G. Then you have to buy a phone that supports 5G.
Need a new 5G phone? 5G services, which will be available only to customers in metro cities next month, are likely to be available to customers in all cities in the country by next year. If you live in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, you must have a 5G phone to experience the fastest internet speed.
Other cities like Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Gurugram, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati may take a few more days to get 5G connectivity. The Department of Telecom has already announced the names of 13 cities that will be the first to launch 5G in the country. Jio has announced that it has already completed 5G coverage planning in the top 100 cities. By 2024, Airtel is moving forward with a vision to cover all cities, including rural areas, in the country.
All the mobile manufacturing companies are currently focusing on manufacturing 5G phones. While Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Poco, Realme and Vivo have already launched 5G phones. Some of these brands are offering 5G phones for Rs 15,000. While Realme announced that it will bring a 5G phone for Rs 10,000.
