Galla Jayadev Announces Retirement from Politics in Lok Sabha
Today, in his last address to the Lok Sabha, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP Galla Jayadev announced his decision to retire from politics. He expressed his gratitude towards TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu for providing him the opportunity to serve as an MP and acknowledged his indebtedness to the people of Guntur, who elected him to Parliament. Jayadev also appreciated the guidance he received from many senior members during his tenure.
Jayadev praised Prime Minister Modi as a visionary leader and commended the advancements India has made under Modi's decade-long leadership, including the construction of the Ayodhya Ram Temple, which fulfilled a long-standing desire of many Indians.
He highlighted the significant role of businessmen in the democratic process and noted that many are elected to legislative assemblies. Jayadev argued against political vendettas towards businessmen and called for an end to such harassment. He pledged to continue contributing to the nation's and state's development, drawing an analogy to Lord Rama's 14-year exile, indicating his temporary withdrawal from politics with the possibility of a future return.
Jayadev emphasized the importance of conducting free and fair elections in the upcoming general elections and voiced concerns over alleged fraudulent voting practices in Andhra Pradesh. He urged election commission officials to perform their duties responsibly. Furthermore, Jayadev reaffirmed his support for the farmers of Amaravati and highlighted his efforts to develop his constituency and promote Amaravati as a smart city.
