MP Rammohan Naidu Highlights Omission of AP Corruption in White Paper

TDP Youth MP Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu expressed his surprise in the Lok Sabha over the omission of Andhra Pradesh's corruption cases in the white paper released by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. He pointed out that while the document addressed corruption before 2014, it conspicuously ignored the rampant corruption in Andhra Pradesh. Naidu highlighted the irony of the situation, noting that a person who had ruled Andhra Pradesh from 2004 to 2014, widely regarded as the king of corruption, and his successor, dubbed the prince of corruption, emerged during the same period.

Rammohan Naidu elaborated on the assets of the said prince, which were reportedly Rs. 1.70 crores in 2004 but surged to Rs. 356 crores by 2011. He raised questions about how such an increase in assets could occur, noting the keen interest of agencies like ED, IT, and CBI in the matter. He sarcastically mentioned that 32 cases were registered against the individual, with assets worth Rs. 43,000 crores being attached.

Naidu also remarked on the public's choice in Andhra Pradesh and at the center, electing Chandrababu Naidu and Narendra Modi, respectively, as leaders opposed to corruption. He asserted that no corruption cases were recorded in Andhra Pradesh from 2014 to 2019.

However, he criticized the situation after 2019 when, according to him, a first-class student came into power, legalizing and centralizing the mafia. He lamented the state of affairs where alcohol purchases in Andhra Pradesh could not be made through UPI or card payments, nor could receipts be obtained, hinting at the scale of corruption in the liquor industry. Naidu also accused the government of monopolizing the sand supply to a single company.
