Amaravati: Tensions escalated in the Undavalli area of Amaravati as the Andhra Pradesh police arrested YS Sharmila, the president of the APCC (Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee). Along with her, several Congress leaders were also taken into custody. The arrests occurred near the embankment while they were on their way to the "Chalo Secretariat" program, where police stopped them. Sharmila was forcibly removed from her vehicle, leading to a heated argument between Congress leaders and the police. Sharmila and other seated leaders were then forcefully lifted and placed into police vehicles and taken away.
During this incident, Congress leaders raised slogans against the Chief Minister, chanting "CM Down, Down" and calling for an end to police brutality. Sharmila had called for the "Chalo Secretariat" march in solidarity with the ongoing protests by unemployed individuals demanding the release of the Mega DSC notification. While being placed into a police vehicle, she fell on the vehicle's steps, but the police continued to detain her and others.
Notably, both Sharmila and other leaders were transported in ordinary vehicles, a detail that has drawn attention. They were all being taken to a police station.
