Amaravati: It is known that Minister Dharmana Prasadarao commented that volunteers should sit as polling booth agents during elections if needed. AP TDP Chief Atchannaidu criticized Minister Dharmana's comments.
Atchannaidu brought Minister Dharmana's comments to the attention of the Election Commission of India, lodging a complaint with evidence. He accused the Minister of violating the orders that volunteers should not be involved in electoral duties and requested the Election Commission to take action.
Minister Dharmana Prasadarao, in a recent event, stated that volunteers play a crucial role in assisting the elderly over 80 years of age and the differently-abled by facilitating postal ballots for them in elections.
He mentioned that there are no service rules for volunteers, implying there should be no objections to them serving as booth agents. He addressed the volunteers, suggesting it is their responsibility to guide voters on whom to vote for.
