Asifabad: Ahead of the parliamentary elections, the BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) is facing consecutive setbacks after its defeat in the assembly elections. Legislators and MPs have started looking elsewhere. Two MPs have already left the party, and several MLAs are ready to do the same. Lower-level leaders have long since made their peace with the situation. There are rumors that some are in touch with either the Congress or the BJP. Amidst this, the party has received another shock.
The alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has sparked controversy within the party. Koneru Konappa, a former MLA from Sirpur, strongly opposes the alliance and is ready to resign from the party. It is reported that he will join the Congress on either the 12th or the 15th of this month. In the last elections, BSP's state president Praveen Kumar contested against Konappa.
Konappa expressed his dissatisfaction over the decision to ally with someone he competed against in the elections and criticized BRS chief KCR for not discussing the matter with him despite the respect he had shown towards KCR. Displeased with the alliance and the party's direction, Konappa secretly met with activists yesterday, and it is expected that he might resign from the party today or tomorrow.
