Amaravati: In the context of elections, it is known that the Election Commission has kept AP volunteers away from all activities. The EC has issued clear orders that volunteers should not participate in the election processes and that they are not allowed to distribute pensions either. Against this backdrop, a petition challenging the Election Commission's orders to prevent volunteers from distributing pensions was filed in the AP High Court by a woman from Guntur. She argued in her petition that pensioners face significant inconvenience if volunteers do not come to their homes to distribute pensions.
The High Court dismissed the petition, supporting the actions of the Election Commission regarding the volunteers. The petitioner's lawyer informed the court that the Chief Secretary had issued orders to collectors to find alternative ways to distribute pensions.
After hearing the arguments, the High Court stated that it was dismissing the petition. Meanwhile, pensioners are facing hardships waiting in the sun at the secretariats, struggling without water and shade. Pension distribution has not yet started in several mandals across the state. Officials in various places are saying that pensions will be distributed tomorrow.
