TCS to Establish IT Facility in Visakhapatnam, Creating up to 10,000 Jobs
Amaravati: In a significant development for Andhra Pradesh's IT sector, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced plans to establish a new IT facility in Visakhapatnam, with the potential to employ up to 10,000 people. This decision was finalized following discussions between Minister for IT, Communications, and HRD, Nara Lokesh, and TCS officials during his visit to the Tata Group headquarters in Mumbai on 8th October 2024.
This initiative follows the recent announcement by HCL to invest in Visakhapatnam, further solidifying the city's reputation as a growing IT and hi-tech hub in India. TCS's investment marks another important milestone in the development of Visakhapatnam's IT infrastructure.
The Tata Group’s decision comes on the heels of several other major investments in Andhra Pradesh, including those by the Lulu Group, Brookfield, Oberoi, and Suzlon Energy. These investments underline the state’s re-emergence as a top choice for business and industrial growth in India.
Minister Nara Lokesh expressed his satisfaction, stating, "I am pleased to announce the development of an IT facility by Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. that will accommodate 10,000 employees. Andhra Pradesh is committed to providing a top-tier investment environment for corporates, driven by our ‘speed of doing business’ approach. This investment by TCS is a crucial step towards our goal of making Andhra Pradesh the No. 1 state for business in India."
