The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Amaravati branch, has announced that the deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a cyclone. Currently, the system is centered 380 kilometers southeast of Chennai. Once it strengthens into a cyclone, it is expected to move northwest and make landfall between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram by tomorrow afternoon (November 30). The cyclone has been officially named Fengal by the IMD.

Heavy to extremely heavy rains are predicted in some areas of South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema today and tomorrow. Districts such as Nellore, Chittoor, Tirupati, and Annamayya are likely to receive heavy rainfall. The IMD has also warned of strong winds with speeds reaching up to 75 kilometers per hour in the southern coastal areas. Fishermen have been strictly advised not to venture into the sea, and those already at sea are urged to return to the shore immediately.

In light of the cyclone, level 3 warnings have been issued at Krishnapatnam and Nizampatnam ports in Andhra Pradesh, while level 1 warnings have been issued at other ports in the state.
