Renowned and often controversial filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) finds himself at the center of legal disputes, as cases have been filed against him in various police stations across Andhra Pradesh for his past social media posts. Police in Prakasam district issued him notices under Section 41A of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Despite being summoned, RGV did not appear before the authorities and instead filed a preemptive bail petition in the High Court. Following this, he also approached the court to address the string of cases registered against him. Amid reports of the police searching for him, RGV released selfie videos from undisclosed locations, denying claims that he was evading authorities and commenting on the growing number of legal actions against him.

In a recent interview with an electronic media outlet, RGV made intriguing remarks about the cases. He argued that the trend of filing cases for older posts was not limited to Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, or India but is a phenomenon observed in the United States as well.

RGV emphasized the increasing competitiveness in the media world, stating that the race to create sensational news and compelling thumbnails drives much of the narrative. He highlighted the impact of social media as an alternate universe, remarking that while a post he made a year ago garnered little attention then, it has now sparked cases based on alleged hurt sentiments.
