A drunk driver caused havoc on the streets of Hyderabad, leading to the tragic death of a software engineer couple. Four others sustained injuries in the incident.

A horrifying road accident occurred at Langer House in Hyderabad late at night. According to police reports, Mona Thakur (35), a resident of Langer House, married Dinesh Giri (38) from Banjara Hills two years ago in a second marriage for both. The couple lived in Gollabasti, Hyderabad, and worked as software engineers.

Three days ago, the couple returned from a trip to Goa. On Saturday night, around 10 PM, they returned home. At midnight, they went out on a bike to buy biryani at the request of their children.

While heading from Langer House towards Nanal Nagar, a speeding car on the Indira Reddy Flyover hit their bike, dragging it along with two other bikes before coming to a stop after crashing into a parked auto trolley. The impact was so severe that Mona was flung off and died on the spot, while Dinesh succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the hospital.

Other victims of the accident included Mohammad Abbas from Chanchalguda, Sheikh Akhtar from Suraaram, and Mohammad Javed from Zoo Park, all of whom suffered severe injuries.

The accused, Praneeth (30), a native of Mothkur village in the Domamandal of Vikarabad district, works at a private insurance company. He had visited Hyderabad to meet a friend. Earlier in the day, he had been drinking in Sun City and hit another bike in an intoxicated state. Locals caught and beat him up, but he escaped and continued driving recklessly. His rampage on the Langer House flyover led to the deaths of the couple and left several others injured. Police have arrested Praneeth.
