Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Passes Away; Telangana Declares Holiday

Former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, passed away on Thursday night at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi after a prolonged illness. In light of his demise, the Telangana government has announced a holiday for educational institutions and government offices on Friday. The Chief Secretary, Shanti Kumari, issued an official notification late on Thursday, stating that the state would observe a week-long mourning period as a mark of respect for the late leader.

The central government has also declared a week-long mourning period nationwide. All official government events scheduled for today (December 27) have been canceled. A meeting of the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will be held at 11 AM in Delhi.

The funeral rites for Dr. Manmohan Singh will be conducted with full state honors, as per government orders.
