Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu Approves Key Proposals in the Health Department
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu conducted a review meeting today focusing on the state’s health department. Several crucial proposals were approved during this meeting, aimed at enhancing healthcare services across the state.
One significant decision was the approval for the purchase of 190 new 108 ambulance vehicles, with an estimated expenditure of ₹60 crores. The Chief Minister also reinstated the policy of providing an additional ₹4,000 as a supplement to the salaries of 108 ambulance drivers.
To support families of the underprivileged in transporting deceased loved ones, the CM approved an increase in the number of “Mahaprasthanam” vehicles dedicated to this purpose.
Another key proposal endorsed was the restructuring of the NTR health insurance scheme by dividing the state into two operational units. Currently managed under a trust model, discussions were held on transitioning this initiative into an insurance-based system.
The Chief Minister emphasized strengthening the 104 ambulance network in rural areas. These ambulances will now feature lab technicians, facilitating essential medical tests directly at the village level. The proposal to centralize services under a single call center for 108, 104, and NTR insurance scheme was also approved.
Chandrababu Naidu advised officials to prioritize preventive healthcare. As part of a pilot project, the government plans to conduct blood tests and other general health screenings through 104 vehicles, with the goal of issuing health cards to the public. The CM expressed confidence that such initiatives would yield positive results.
Further, the Chief Minister underscored the need to integrate artificial intelligence into healthcare services. He envisioned a system where patients could receive medical assistance through technology without needing to visit hospitals.
