A devastating road accident occurred in southern Ethiopia yesterday evening, claiming 71 lives. A group returning from a wedding ceremony met with tragedy when the truck they were traveling in lost control and plunged into a river. The incident happened on the Gelan Bridge in the Sidama region, where the truck veered off suddenly and fell into the river.
The death toll rose due to the river's strong currents and delays in rescue operations. Police reported that among the deceased, 68 were men, and three were women. Five individuals who sustained severe injuries are receiving medical treatment, with their condition described as critical.
