The Stella EL cargo ship, which had been stranded off the Kakinada coast for 55 days, has finally been cleared to sail. The ship was detained following allegations of illegal rice transportation, a case that drew significant public attention after Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s directive to "seize the ship" became a hot topic across the state.

Officials confirmed that the unloading of the ration rice from the vessel had been completed. Additionally, the Stella ship's steamer agent paid the necessary anchorage charges and export duties to the port authority. After settling all dues and obtaining a “no dues” certificate, the customs department issued clearance for the ship to leave.

With the clearance in place, the Stella cargo ship is now free to proceed towards the West African coast. Kakinada District Collector Shan Mohan confirmed on Sunday that permission had been granted for the ship to depart for its destination at the Cotonou port in Benin, a key commercial hub in West Africa.

This marks the end of a prolonged episode that saw intense scrutiny from local authorities and the media, following suspicions of illegal export activities. The resolution of the matter clears the way for the Stella vessel to resume its voyage.
