Massive Earthquake Strikes Nepal
A powerful earthquake shook Nepal early this morning, registering a magnitude of 7.1 on the Richter scale. The quake struck near Labuche, located 93 kilometers from the Nepal-Tibet border, at approximately 6:35 AM. The epicenter was detected at a depth of 10 kilometers in Shigatse Prefecture, Tibet. Tremors were felt across Nepal, including the capital city of Kathmandu and several other districts, prompting residents to rush out of their homes in fear. However, no reports of casualties or damage have been confirmed so far.
The impact of the earthquake extended beyond Nepal, affecting parts of northern India, including Delhi-NCR, West Bengal, and Bihar, where tremors were also experienced. Additionally, tremors were reported in neighboring countries such as China, Bhutan, and Bangladesh.
This incident brings back memories of the devastating earthquake of April 2015 in Nepal, which measured 7.8 in magnitude and resulted in the loss of nearly 9,000 lives.
