Indian Migrants Held in Panama Hotel – Detained or Sheltered?
The United States has been deporting illegal migrants to their home countries, with three flights already repatriating Indian nationals. In a recent development, the U.S. has transferred 300 illegal migrants to Panama, including individuals from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Nepal, Iran, and China. Reports indicate that Panama has taken responsibility for sending these migrants back to their respective countries.

As part of this process, the migrants have been housed in a hotel under tight security, leading to speculation about whether they are being detained or merely provided temporary accommodation. Some migrants have been seen pleading for help through the hotel windows, displaying signs with the word "HELP" written on paper. Others have been spotted crying and making desperate appeals.

The Panamanian government has clarified that the migrants are being accommodated at U.S. expense while arrangements are made for their repatriation. Authorities have encouraged them to return voluntarily to their home countries. However, only 171 out of the 300 migrants have agreed to repatriation, while the remaining individuals are reluctant to leave. Officials have stated that temporary accommodation will be provided for those unwilling to return, and discussions are ongoing to determine further action regarding their status.
