Ibrahim Zadran’s Destructive Century Powers Afghanistan to a Massive Total Against England
In a crucial Champions Trophy Group B match where all teams are still in contention for the semifinals, Afghanistan delivered an inspiring batting performance. Facing England in Lahore, Afghanistan, after winning the toss and electing to bat, posted an imposing total of 325 for 7 in the allotted 50 overs.

Opener Ibrahim Zadran was the star of the innings, scoring a phenomenal 177 off 146 balls. His explosive batting dismantled England’s bowling attack, as he struck 12 fours and 6 sixes.

At one stage, Afghanistan was struggling at 37 for 3 due to the fiery spell of England pacer Jofra Archer. However, Zadran’s aggressive innings helped his team recover and cross the 300-run mark. He received crucial support from captain Hashmatullah Shahidi (40) and Azmatullah Omarzai (41), stabilizing the innings after the early setbacks.

Towards the end, Mohammad Nabi provided additional momentum, playing a quickfire knock of 40 off 24 balls, which included 2 fours and 3 sixes. His late onslaught ensured Afghanistan crossed the 300-run milestone.

For England, Jofra Archer was the standout bowler, claiming 3 wickets, while Liam Livingstone (2), Jamie Overton (1), and Adil Rashid (1) also contributed with the ball.

With this innings, Ibrahim Zadran achieved a historic milestone, registering the highest individual score for Afghanistan in ODIs. He surpassed his own previous record of 162 runs, setting a new benchmark with his 177-run knock.
