AP Government Announces Major Benefits for ASHA Workers

The Andhra Pradesh coalition government has announced significant benefits for ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activists) workers. The state has decided to extend the maximum age limit for ASHA workers to 62 years. Additionally, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has approved the provision of gratuity payments to all ASHA workers to enhance their financial security.
Furthermore, the government has decided to grant 180 days of paid maternity leave for the first two childbirths. Official orders regarding these decisions are expected to be issued soon.
There are approximately 42,752 ASHA workers across Andhra Pradesh, with 37,017 working in rural areas and 5,735 in urban regions. Currently, ASHA workers receive a monthly salary of ₹10,000. Upon completion of their service, they may be eligible for a gratuity payment of ₹1.5 lakh.
