"I Wanted to Join Films, But Became a Cricketer": Varun Chakravarthy

Indian mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy delivered a sensational performance in the final league match of the Champions Trophy against New Zealand in Dubai. He dismantled the Kiwi batting lineup, taking five wickets and playing a crucial role in India's victory.
Speaking after the match, Varun reflected on his cricketing journey, revealing that he started playing the sport relatively late, at the age of 26. Before that, he was an architect and had dreams of working in films. "I had different career aspirations. I only started dreaming about cricket at 26, and now that dream has come true," he said.
Varun also admitted to feeling nervous at the beginning of the match, as memories of the 2021 T20 World Cup resurfaced. He recalled the disappointment of that tournament, where he failed to take a single wicket despite making it to India's T20 squad after an impressive IPL season. However, he credited Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for helping him overcome his fears. "They kept talking to me ball after ball, helping me push past my anxieties," he said, expressing gratitude towards the senior players.
With the win over New Zealand, India advanced to the knockout stage without losing a single match in the league phase. The team is set to face Australia in the semi-final on March 4 in Dubai. Fans are hopeful that Varun Chakravarthy will continue his stellar form in the crucial encounter.
