IPL 2025: BCCI Issues New Guidelines for Team Practice Sessions

IPL 2025: BCCI Issues New Guidelines for Team Practice Sessions
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has imposed new restrictions on practice sessions for Indian Premier League (IPL) teams ahead of the upcoming season. According to the new guidelines, each team will be allowed only seven practice sessions and two warm-up matches. Additionally, teams will not be permitted to use the stadium for practice on match days.

The BCCI has also barred the organization of other tournaments at IPL venues during the season. Practice matches must be held on one of the side wickets of the main square, and under floodlights, practice sessions will be limited to just 3 hours and 30 minutes. As per operational rules, teams must obtain prior written approval from the BCCI for conducting practice matches.

To ensure pitch readiness for the season, franchises are prohibited from conducting any practice sessions or matches on the main square in the four days leading up to their first home game. If both teams wish to practice simultaneously, sessions will be scheduled accordingly. These new regulations were communicated to IPL teams through an official note from the BCCI, as reported by Cricbuzz.

The 2025 IPL season is set to begin on March 22 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, with the opening match featuring Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
