Team India’s Toss Misfortune: 14 Straight Losses Since World Cup Final

The Indian cricket team has extended its unwanted record of consecutive toss losses in One Day Internationals (ODIs). With the toss loss in the Champions Trophy match against Australia, India has now lost 14 consecutive tosses in ODIs. The streak began with the World Cup final on November 19, 2023, and has continued since.
India failed to win a single toss in the three-match ODI series against South Africa in December 2023. The same pattern repeated in August 2024, when India played a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. Most recently, during the three-match home series against England, Indian captain Rohit Sharma lost all three tosses. Furthermore, in the Champions Trophy, India has lost the toss in all three of its league matches.
With today's toss loss, India's streak has now reached 14, surpassing the previous record held by the Netherlands, which lost 11 consecutive tosses between March 2011 and August 2013.
