Recover Demolition Costs from Vijayasai Reddy’s Daughter, Orders AP High Court

The Andhra Pradesh High Court conducted a hearing today on the issue of illegal constructions near Bheemili Beach in Visakhapatnam. The court expressed strong displeasure over the violations of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms and took a stern stance on the unauthorized developments in the area.
The court also directed its attention to a company in which Neha Reddy, daughter of former YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Vijayasai Reddy, is a business partner. Expressing its dissatisfaction, the court stated that the demolition of a wall and leaving behind a six-foot foundation was improper.
To assess the damage caused by the wall’s removal, the High Court instructed that a committee comprising officials from the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change be constituted. Additionally, it ordered that the costs incurred for the wall’s demolition, along with the environmental damage, be recovered from Neha Reddy’s company.
Furthermore, the court directed that a police complaint be filed against the company, emphasizing that such a step would enable criminal proceedings to be initiated if necessary. The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for three weeks later.
