Chandrababu’s Statement on Free Travel Scheme for Women – Watch the Video

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is facing criticism from YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders over the implementation of the free travel scheme for women. YSRCP leaders allege that while the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had promised state-wide free bus travel for women during the elections, the government is now limiting the benefit to intra-district travel only. They accuse the ruling coalition of backtracking on its promises and imposing restrictions on welfare schemes.
In response to these allegations, TDP leaders have defended their position, asserting that Chandrababu Naidu had always promised free bus travel for women within district limits. To counter YSRCP’s claims, TDP leaders shared a video of Chandrababu Naidu’s election speeches, in which he and party leader Nara Lokesh clearly stated that women could travel for free in RTC buses within their respective districts.
“The coalition government is implementing the promise exactly as made during the election campaign. Unable to digest the benefits reaching women, Jagan Mohan Reddy is spreading false narratives about the free bus travel scheme,” TDP leaders said.
The issue was also raised by YSRCP leaders in the Legislative Council. In response, Minister Gummadi Sudha Rani clarified that under the free bus travel scheme, women can travel within their districts without charges. However, if they need to travel to another district, they will have to purchase a ticket.
