Dollar Dreams End in Tragedy: Indian Man Dies on Donkey Route to the U.S.
An Indian man attempting to enter the United States illegally via the "Donkey Route" has died in Nicaragua due to health complications. Authorities identified the deceased as Dilip Patel from Gujarat. His wife and children, who were traveling with him, are now stranded in Nicaragua.

Dilip Patel, a resident of Moyad village in Sabarkantha district, had aspirations of settling in the U.S. To achieve this, he contacted an agent who demanded ₹1 crore to facilitate the journey for his entire family. According to villagers, Patel sold his land to arrange the payment.

The agent initially sent Patel and his family to Dubai and later transferred them to Nicaragua. While attempting to cross into the U.S. through the Donkey Route, Patel, who was diabetic, fell ill due to the lack of proper medication. His condition worsened, ultimately leading to his death.

With Patel’s passing, his wife and children remain stranded in Nicaragua. Villagers have urged the Ministry of External Affairs to take immediate action to repatriate his body and facilitate the return of his family to Gujarat.
