White House Condemns India's 150% Tariff on American Alcohol

The White House has expressed dissatisfaction over the tariffs imposed by various countries on American products. It has strongly reacted to the Indian government's imposition of a 150% tariff on American alcoholic beverages, stating that such measures are detrimental to U.S. trade interests.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that President Donald Trump advocates for fair and reciprocal trade policies, emphasizing the need for equitable trade agreements for the United States. She further alleged that Canada has been deceiving the U.S. for decades by imposing excessive tariffs, citing the nearly 300% duties levied by Canada on certain American products. Additionally, she pointed out that Japan imposes a 700% tariff on rice imports.
Trump also criticized India’s approach, asserting that selling American products in India is nearly impossible due to the high tariffs. He claimed that excessive duties are the primary barrier to market access. However, he stated that as a result of raising concerns over these policies, India has agreed to lower its tariffs.
Trump further remarked that countries worldwide have been exploiting the United States and reiterated his administration’s efforts to reclaim financial losses through trade measures. He has already imposed tariffs on Mexico, Canada, and China as part of this strategy.
