Indian Student Shot Dead in Canada During Hamilton Gang Shootout

An Indian student who had traveled to Canada for higher studies tragically lost her life in a shooting incident. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening in the city of Hamilton, located in Ontario Province. According to information provided by the police, 21-year-old Harsimrat Randhawa, a student at Mohawk College, was waiting at a local bus stop on her way to work when she was struck by a bullet during an exchange of gunfire between individuals in two cars.
Hamilton Police stated that the incident occurred at approximately 7:30 PM local time. Upon receiving the alert, officers rushed to the scene and found Harsimrat Randhawa critically injured. She was immediately transported to a hospital, but doctors confirmed that she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.
Authorities clarified that Harsimrat Randhawa had no connection whatsoever to the shooting incident and confirmed that she was an innocent bystander. Preliminary investigations revealed that the tragic event occurred during a dispute between the occupants of the two vehicles. Based on video evidence recovered from the scene, a passenger in a black car was seen firing shots at a white car. Following the gunfire, both vehicles fled the location.
The Consulate General of India in Toronto expressed deep sorrow over the death of Harsimrat Randhawa. In an official statement, the office conveyed condolences to her family and assured them of all necessary assistance. They stated that communication with the family was ongoing and emphasized their commitment to providing every form of support needed during this difficult time.
Hamilton Police have registered a case of homicide and intensified the investigation. They have requested that anyone with information related to the incident, or those possessing dash camera footage, come forward and contact the authorities.
