Bandi Sanjay Leads Effort to Repatriate Cyber Scam Victims from Myanmar
Four Indian youths—three from Telangana and one from Andhra Pradesh—who had been trapped in a cybercrime ring in Myanmar under the guise of job opportunities in Bangkok, have been repatriated to India following the intervention of Union Minister of State Bandi Sanjay. The operation was undertaken on the directives of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, as confirmed by Bandi Sanjay.

The individuals who returned to India through this initiative are Rakesh Reddy and A. Shivashankar from Kohir in Ranga Reddy district, Kanuri Ganesh from Karimnagar district, and Akula Guru Yuva Kishore from Andhra Pradesh.

According to the victims, a group of brokers had promised them lucrative jobs in Bangkok. Once they reached the destination, they were forcibly transported to Myanmar and coerced into participating in cyber scams. The victims reported that they were made to work for 16 hours a day and subjected to inhumane treatment if they resisted.

Rakesh Reddy from Kohir revealed that he was deceived by an agent named Vamsikrishna from Jagtial. Upon refusing to work, his passport was confiscated and he was denied food. Eventually, he was falsely labeled a criminal and handed over to the local military.

Rakesh Reddy further explained that after learning about other victims being rescued through Bandi Sanjay's efforts, his father reached out to the Union Minister’s office. Bandi Sanjay immediately coordinated with officials from the Ministry of External Affairs and took swift action to secure their release. “We are forever indebted to him,” Rakesh Reddy stated.

Speaking on the incident, Bandi Sanjay said that several youths from the Telugu-speaking states, along with hundreds of other Indians, are believed to be similarly trapped in Myanmar’s cybercrime network. He confirmed that efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining victims. He also urged young people not to fall prey to deceptive job offers from brokers.
