Former ISRO Chairman Kasturirangan Passes Away

Dr. Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan, former Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), passed away at the age of 84. He breathed his last this morning at his residence in Bengaluru.
Dr. Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan held several key positions throughout his distinguished career. He previously served as the Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). He also held the post of Chairman of the Karnataka Knowledge Commission.
He played a crucial role as the Chairman of ISRO from 1994 to 2003, significantly contributing to the organization’s development during this period. Following his tenure at ISRO, he served as a Member of the Rajya Sabha from 2003 to 2009.
Dr. Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan also chaired the committee that drafted the National Education Policy under the Narendra Modi government, playing a vital role in shaping the policy framework.
From 2004 to 2009, he was the Director of the National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS) in Bengaluru. Through this institute, he contributed to the nation's scientific and technological progress.
