She described Sumathi as a character who values her loved ones over material wealth, finding herself conflicted when wealth disrupts the simple life she cherishes. "I drew from my own family and observed the humility in my mother and other women around me to portray Sumathi authentically," Meenakshi said, adding that she is keen to take on diverse roles that allow her to explore a range of emotions and life stages.
