On the successful celebration of 6th anniversary of SHE Teams of Telangana State
'SHE' Teams were launched on 24th October 2014 in Hyderabad City as part of the Telangana State Government’s vision of providing a totally safe and secure environment for women with in larger concept of friendly policing. ¬ In view of the resounding success of SHE Teams in Hyderabad City, it was replicated initially in Cyberabad and thereafter in the entire state of Telangana from April 1st, 2015.
Women's Safety wing has already made a name for itself in the country by launching a number of innovative awareness programs on women's safety and giving utmost importance to women's security. The Telangana state SHE Teams, which were set up on October 24, 2014, with the aim of providing the utmost care in the state of Telangana as part of the safety of women and children in the state, have completed it’s six years and is successfully entering into the seventh year.
On observing the statistics of SHE Team-related complaints it reveals that during the year 2014 to 2020 (till 30.09.2020) Total of 30187 petitions were received through various modes of complaint i.e. through Dial 100, Facebook, WhatsApp, Hawk-Eye, Email, Twitter, and Direct walk-in.
the Mode of the complaint, there is a Drastically raising in Whatsapp complaints and other indirect modes (i.e. Hawkeye, Facebook, Email, Twitter) from 33% to 63% when compared 2014-19 data with 2020 data, 2). on observing Mode of Harassment, there is Drastically raise in Social Media Harassment (Mobile, Whatsapp, Facebook, Email, Twitter) from 40% to 63% when compared 2014-19 data with 2020 data.
On 28-1-2020, inaugurated, she teams WhatsApp number to the state she team of Telangana WhatsApp number(9441669988) and received a total 420 complaints. During the month of March 2020 conducted she software training to all the teams and during the pandemic year, online training was also conducted for the teams of the Telangana state. Due to the pandemic, COVID-19 online counseling was conducted for all the counseled respondents during the year 2020.
Swati Lakra, Additional DGP, Women Safety Wing, said, "We will continue to focus on the safety of Women & Girls." She said the Telangana state She Teams are giving courage to young women in rural and urban areas. She said it is a good sign and encouraging the women and children to come forward to contact and raise complaints with She Teams in case of any danger.
