Manipal hospital, Vijayawada provides quality and affordable treatments under Aarogyasri scheme
- The hospital successfully treats a 6-year-old child, under Aarogyasri, who was diagnosed with Primary Refractory Hodgkin Lymphoma
Manipal Hospital, Vijayawada has successfully treated the case of Primary Refractory Hodgkin Lymphoma in a 6-year-old child. The child, Neela Pati Siri Spandana, visited the hospital with multiple lesions in her body and in a very critical condition.
Speaking about the case at the press conference, Dr Madhav Danthala, Consultant Hemato Oncology, Manipal Hospital, Vijayawada said, “The patient was suffering from Primary Refractory Hodgkin Lymphoma and visited the hospital in August 2020 after going around multiple hospitals for the treatment. The assessment of PET CT results showed that there was a complete metabolic response post giving her second line salvage chemotherapy with GDP.”
Adding to this, Dr G. Krishna Reddy, Consultant Medical Oncology, Manipal Hospital, Vijayawada said, “Once the patient became responsive, BEAM conditioning and Autologous Stem Cell Transplant was given to the patient. The patient was discharged in 3 weeks after having achieved complete blood count recovery and is now been treated on an out-patient basis.
We were able to achieve this success due to the presence of experienced, internationally trained physicians in Hemato Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant and Medical Oncology departments. I would like to congratulate the team of doctors for the efforts put in by them to successfully treat the child.”
The doctors are constantly monitoring the patient’s health and she is now being treated on an out-patient basis. The press conference also had the presence of Dr Manoj Kumar – Chief of Clinical Services, Manipal Hospital – Vijayawada and Dr B. Sravan Kumar, Associate Consultant, Medical Oncology, Manipal Hospital – Vijayawada.
The parents of Siri Spandana expressed their gratitude to the doctors for successfully completing the treatment. They also expressed their gratitude to the Government of Andhra Pradesh for making such treatments affordable under Arogyasri.
Speaking at the conference, the parents of Siri Spandana said, “Manipal Hospital became a boon for people who could not afford the huge sum of money for such operations. The parents felt very happy when the doctors informed that all the expenses of the treatment would be covered under Aarogyasri.
