Dengue cases on the rise in Hyderabad: Gleneagles Global Hospitals doctors
- Monsoon and poor sanitation leading to severe cases of viral fever
Commenting on the rise in number of cases, Dr. Y. Prashanth Chandra, Consultant – Internal Medicine, Gleneagles Global Hospitals said, "With the advent of monsoon season and poor sanitation is resulting in rapid rise in the number of dengue cases in the city. We observed there is at least 40-50% rise in dengue cases in the last one week. Dengue causing mosquitoes are active during late evenings and early mornings and people going on walk during these times are potential victims along with those living in poor hygienic conditions.”
"Simple measures like wearing full length clothes keeping surroundings clean and not walking in the water clogged areas will prevent dengue. It is highly recommended people suffering from fever undergo test to ascertain potential risk," added Dr. Prashanth Chandra.
"Gleneagles Global Hospital (Lakdikapul) has taken up initiatives to create awareness on dengue fever and is recurringly monitoring the rising trend in dengue fever. We request everyone to take proper measures during this rainy season as Covid-19 scenario can further complicate the effect of seasonal diseases," added Mr. Gaurav Khurana, CEO, Gleneagles Global Hospitals (Lakdikapul).
