Governor Tamilisai calls for the promotion of innovation
- Launches smart medical ICU ventilators
- Appreciates the efforts of IIT in promoting research and innovation
“My appeal to students to take part in research from early on and contribute your bit to the mankind,” she added.
The Governor was speaking at the launching of Jeevan Lite-Smart Medical ICU Ventilator- developed by the students of the IIT, Hyderabad here.
She appreciated the efforts of the IIT, Hyderabad, and its students in coming up with series of innovations and new indigenous technologies helping the country in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Recalling the second wave days, when there was a massive demand for the medical oxygen; Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan stated that she used to get frantic calls from different sections of the people asking for a bed with oxygen supply.
“The innovation like the smart medical ICU ventilator makes me so happy as a doctor and as the Governor as these are the kind of innovations that help us to save many precious lives,” she added.
The Governor said that the emphasis and initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on self-reliance and the efforts of the state governments, India handled the pandemic in a much better way than many developed countries.
I salute the scientists and innovators of our country for rising to the occasion and coming up with indigenous vaccines, medicines, medical technologies, and equipment in combating the pandemic.
Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan appreciated the young innovators and the IIT, Hyderabad, for promoting innovation and research in a big way.
DRDO chairman and Defence Secretary Dr. G. Sateesh Reddy, IIT-Hyderabad director Prof. BS Murthy, and IIT-Hyderabad chairman Dr. BVR Mohan Reddy were among others who spoke on the occasion.
Governor emphasizes on promotion of Green Energy:
Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has called upon the citizens to take up Green energy initiatives right from the houses.Speaking at the inaugural of an international conference on “Green Energy – Powering MSMEs for Future,” at the National Institute for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise (NI-MSME) campus here, she emphasized on the promotion of green energy and the relevant technologies at all levels.Expressing concerns over the draining of our foreign exchange reserves on account of massive oil import bills, Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan said that it was high time that we promote alternative, renewable energy sources and promote the use of green energy.
The Governor highlighted the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in aiming to create 500 Giga Watts of green power by the year 2030.
She exhorted all sections of the people to help our country realise its target of emerging as the NET Zero Emission country by 2070 through the judicious use of fuels and promoting green energies.
The Governor stated that due to the sustained efforts of the government, the share of renewable energy in India's energy mix has gone up to 25 per cent in 2021 from the earlier 11 per cent in 2015.
“We need to become active participants in protecting the nature and saving the natural resources for the generations to come by adopting sustainable development models. We must work for the climate justice by creating awareness on climate change,” she added.
Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has appreciated the efforts of the Telangana State for its massive progress in increasing the renewable energy production and share to a great extent.
“Achieving energy self-sufficiency is vital to realise the larger goal of self-reliant India,” she said.
Dr. Glory Swarupa, Director General, NI-MSME, Dr. Andrew Fleming, HE British Deputy High Commissioner, Hyderabad, Ajay Mishra, IAS (Retd.), DG, Renewable Energy Society of India, Dr. Madhu Chandrika Chatopadhyay, founder-director, Chandradeep Solar Research Institute and other dignitaries were present.
