VRA and VRO Systems to be Reinstated in Telangana

Telangana State Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy announced on Saturday that the Village Revenue Assistant (VRA) and Village Revenue Officer (VRO) systems will be reinstated in the state. He stated that it was unclear what former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was thinking when the VRA and VRO systems were abruptly abolished overnight. The Minister confirmed that the government would restore these systems and issue licenses by June 2, appointing 6,000 surveyors.
Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy alleged that the Dharani portal, introduced under the previous administration, was developed by a few individuals behind closed doors to serve their own interests. He criticized K. Chandrashekar Rao's governance, claiming that ordinary farmers faced numerous hardships due to the Dharani portal. He stated that the former chief minister was now confined to his farmhouse because of the backlash.
The Minister further claimed that land acquisitions made by leaders of the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government through manipulation of the Dharani portal would soon be exposed. According to him, those who feared the "Bhoo Bharati" (land survey initiative) fled, which he attributed as a reason for the current slowdown in the real estate sector.
Despite the state's difficult financial condition, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the current administration is committed to implementing the schemes promised during the election campaign. He emphasized that the government aims to make Telangana a model state in the country. He urged revenue officials to act with responsibility, ensuring that even minor errors do not occur in the revenue system.
