Polavaram’s diaphragm wall washed way due to TDP govt’s historic mistake: Ambati
Nandyal, July 23: Speaking to the media after lifting three gates of Srisailam dam to discharge 57,751 cusecs of water, Irrigation Minister Ambati Rambabu on Saturday said that the previous TDP government did a historic blunder by constructing diaphragm wall of the Polavaram Project prior to completion of cofferdam.
As a result, diaphragm wall washed away, he alleged. He made former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu responsible for delay in completion of Polavaram. Ambati threw a challenge to the TDP leaders inviting them for debate with experts. “After coming to power, my government completed construction of cofferdram,” he claimed.
The minister expressed anger over Chandrababu for politicising his tour meant for interacting and consoling flood victims. “TDP chief’s visit to flood-hit villages reminding me of election campaign as he is only criticising Jagan government and nothing else,” he flayed. He further said gates of Srisailam reservoir lifted because heavy inflows.
