Kaleshwaram responsible for Bhadrachalam flooding: MP CM Ramesh
Amaravati, July 25: Rajya Sabha MP and Andhra Pradesh BJP leader CM Ramesh on Monday said floodwater entered into Bhadrachalam town as Telangana government released stored water from Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project at a time.
Talking to reporters, the MP alleged that the Telangana government is plotting to stop construction of Polavaram by blaming project’s backwater was the reason for temple town submergence. “Why AP government is not condemning the allegations of the Telangana government,” he asked.
Ramesh faulted the AP government for writing a letter to the Central government to send teams for making an assessment of crop loss and property damage due to Godavari floods. “The YSRCP government has no funds to provide assistance to flood victims,” he mentioned.
The MP further said that the Jagan government diverted funds allocated to gram panchayats by the Central government for the last three years and using for social welfare schemes.
