Dushyant Dave breaks down during farewell to NV Ramana, hails CJI as citizen’s judge
New Delhi, August 26: While delivering a farewell speech to Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana, who is retiring on Friday, senior Supreme Court advocate Dushyant Dave broke down while saying, "You have been a citizens' judge...I cannot hold back my emotions today. You performed your duty with spine. You upheld the rights...you upheld the constitution...you maintained a system of checks and balances. You are leaving the court in great hands of Justice Lalit and Justice Kohli. We will miss you.”
For the first time, apex court proceedings telecasted live that too on the day of CJI’s retirement. Dave said that he was pessimistic when Ramana took over as CJI due to what the court had gone through. He praised the CJI for living beyond everybody's expectations.
While expressing his gratitude to Ramana, Dushyant stated that the ‘atmosphere and power’ that the CJI had given to the Supreme Court should be carried on forward.
