‘Babli Bouncer’: Tamannaah, Madhur Bhandarkar recall Tollywood connection
Hyderabad: Tamannaah acted as a lady bouncer in the film ‘Babli Bouncer'. Directed by National Award winner Madhur Bhandarkar, the film will be streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar on September 23. On the occasion, Tamannaah and Madhur Bhandarkar spoke to the media in Hyderabad on Saturday.
“My journey started with Telugu cinema. I am proud to climb every step as a Telugu actress. Rajamouli and Sukumar took Indian stories and make films. Our Indian cinema is still driven by our emotions. I feel lucky to come across this story, which comes with the concept of a lady bouncer. Working with National Award winner Madhur Bhandarkar feels great,” she said.
“In this fim, I will be seen as a young woman from Haryana. This is the first time to do this kind of story. It will be a memorable film for my career. Everyone says that the heroines in Madhur Bhandarkar's films get national awards. I pray to God that I should get the national award with this film," she said.
Madhur Bhandarkar has a good connection with Hyderabad. “I did my first film 'Chandini Bar' at Ramoji Film City. Worked with RGV for the films 'Rangeela', 'Gaayam', 'Antham' and 'Govinda Govinda'. It is a pleasure to come to Hyderabad again after 23 years,” he recalled.
As far as this story is concerned, “Lady Bouncers were seen in the North. I started this movie by drawing inspiration from them. In this film, the heroine should be bubbly with physical strength and mental maturity. Tamannaah seemed the best bet for that role,” he pointed out.
Tamannaah's role as Avantika in 'Baahubali' brought out the acting in her. Many asked why did you take Tamannaah? After seeing Tamannaah's performance in the trailer, everybody is saying that she is apt the role. Tamannaah rendered justice to the role of bouncer as I expected. This is a complete family entertainer," he said.
