England's star batter Joe Root achieved a rare milestone during the first Test match against New Zealand at Hagley Oval, Christchurch. England secured an 8-wicket victory in this match, which also marked Root's 150th Test appearance. During the second innings, Root scored 23 runs off 15 balls, surpassing Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar's record. Root now holds the record for the most runs scored in the fourth innings of Test matches.

Sachin had been at the top of this list with 1,625 runs, but Root overtook him with a tally of 1,630 runs. Alastair Cook and Graeme Smith share the third and fourth positions with 1,611 runs each. West Indies great Shivnarine Chanderpaul is fifth with 1,580 runs.
