Renowned filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma addressed the media today, denying allegations that he is in hiding and confirming his presence in Hyderabad. Speaking about the cases registered against him in Andhra Pradesh, Varma stated that if arrested, he would cooperate fully, use the opportunity to befriend inmates, and even write movie scripts while in jail.

Varma expressed displeasure over media exaggeration regarding his arrest. He mentioned that some people have questioned why he hasn’t been apprehended yet. Highlighting the timing of complaints, he noted that cases were filed against him a year after his social media posts allegedly offended certain individuals. “Why did it take so long for people to react to my posts?” he questioned.

Varma explained that multiple cases have been registered against him in different districts. Due to prior commitments, he has sought permission from the courts to delay his appearances. He criticized certain media outlets for creating false narratives, including claims that he had fled his residence when police arrived to arrest him.

The filmmaker dismissed as baseless rumors suggesting that actors Prakash Raj and Nagarjuna helped him evade authorities. He ridiculed reports that portrayed police searching for him in Kerala and Coimbatore, stating, “No police officer has confirmed such a search.”

Varma defended his social media activities, emphasizing that cartoons and memes are forms of free expression and are prevalent even in countries like the USA. He said, “Every individual interprets art differently,” and criticized media outlets for using his cartoons out of context to sensationalize stories.

Finally, Varma mocked media outlets, saying they had assumed the role of detectives, creating stories where none exist. He reiterated his commitment to his art and affirmed his presence in Hyderabad despite claims to the contrary.
