5.3 Magnitude Earthquake: Widespread Tremors in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh
An earthquake centered in the Mulugu district of Telangana occurred this morning, causing panic among residents. At exactly 7:27 AM, while people were engaged in their daily chores, the ground shook for several seconds, prompting many to rush out of their homes in fear. The earthquake was recorded at a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale. Its epicenter was identified to be located 40 kilometers beneath Mulugu, while its impact was felt over a radius of 225 kilometers.
The tremors were reported in various areas, including Vanasthalipuram, Hayathnagar, and Abdullapurmet on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Additionally, the districts of Khammam, Ranga Reddy, Karimnagar, and Hanumakonda also experienced the quake. In the undivided Khammam district, locations such as Kothagudem, Manuguru, Bhadrachalam, Cherla, Chintakani, Nagulavancha, and Illendu reported noticeable tremors that lasted for up to three seconds.
The earthquake’s impact was not limited to Telangana. Several areas in Andhra Pradesh, including Vijayawada, Jaggayyapet, Nandigama, and Eluru, also reported tremors.
While there have been no immediate reports of casualties or damage, the sudden occurrence of the earthquake has left residents shaken and cautious.
