In a significant political development in Telangana, Governor Jishnu Dev Varma has approved an investigation against BRS Working President and former Minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) concerning corruption allegations related to the Formula E car race held in Hyderabad last year. Following this approval, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is preparing to launch its inquiry.

The Formula E car race took place in Hyderabad in February last year during the tenure of the BRS government. Allegations of large-scale misappropriation of funds allocated for the event were reported by the state's Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department to the ACB.

In its request, the ACB sought permission to register a case against two municipal department officials already under investigation, along with then-minister K.T. Rama Rao. The state government approved the inquiry against the two officials and referred the request concerning KTR to the Governor, citing his status as a public representative.

Based on legal advice, Governor Jishnu Dev Varma has granted permission for the investigation against KTR, enabling the ACB to proceed with its inquiry into the alleged financial irregularities.
