Revanth Reddy Criticizes Focus on Allu Arjun Amid Sandhya Theater Tragedy
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has raised serious questions about the lack of accountability regarding the death of a woman during the incident at Sandhya Theater. He criticized the focus on actor Allu Arjun's arrest, stating, “People are asking about Allu Arjun being arrested, but no one is asking about the deceased woman or who is responsible for her death.” He further expressed concern for the deceased woman's son, who is still undergoing treatment in the hospital.
During an interview with the Aaj Tak program, Revanth Reddy, currently on a visit to Delhi, reiterated his stance on the matter. He recalled that several prominent actors, such as Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt, have faced arrests in the past. Referring to the Pushpa-2 benefit show incident, he alleged that ticket prices, which were supposed to be ₹300, were instead sold at ₹1,300. He also mentioned that the police arrested Allu Arjun only ten days after the incident and emphasized that no celebrity is above the law.
Revanth Reddy accused the actor of inciting chaos by climbing onto a car in front of the theater to excite fans, leading to the situation spiraling out of control. “Such incidents could have been avoided if prior information had been provided to the police,” he remarked. He suggested that actors who want to watch movies should either do so in home theaters or inform authorities beforehand.
Revanth Reddy noted that he has known Allu Arjun since childhood and acknowledged the actor’s family connection, saying, “His wife is a member of my family.” However, he also criticized the film industry for prioritizing profit over accountability.
When asked about his personal views on stardom, Revanth Reddy said he was a fan of the late superstar Krishna and remarked, “Now, I am a star too, with a significant number of fans.” Responding to a question about election results in Maharashtra and Haryana, he suggested that queries regarding those should be directed to the respective state leaders.
